Spike Gun COncept

I'm curious...I see the bullets in the handle, like a traditional pistol...so why does the shell-catcher look like a revolver's chamber?  And just a thought, but the catcher looks so small that even one spent case rattling around inside of it could jeopardize the pistol's basic basic functions.
